Lagide Beach Surf Spots tips!
-
Prainha
Prainha - A super fun consistent sand bottomed beach break perfect for beginners catching their first white water waves or lower intermediates looking for mellow green waves. A popular break with surf schools if the wind is coming from the south, but Prainha is also a sheltered beach to find smaller more manageable waves if the waves are too big on the beaches to the south side of Baleal island.

Lagide
Lagide - A classic A-frame reef break suitable for all level intermediates up to advanced surfers, a fun wave with longer steeper lefts and fun mellower right handers most days and on big swells it can produce epic rights also! Lagide favours a mid tide as it can get a little fat at high tide and at low tide the reef is little more exposed (its is a rocky reef so just be careful getting in out). Lagide prefers a southerly wind and swells coming from the north or NW. Lagide being a reef break has a more compact but fairly spread out peak with surfers of all ages and abilities on everything from longboards to shortboards. Lagide has a good friendly atmosphere but can get very busy especially on strong southerly winds when other beaches are blown out. If its too busy Gigi is a great alternative!

Gigi
Gigi - A really good option when Lagide reef is too crowded, Gigi is a fun (sometimes hollow and epic) beach break breaking over sand and rock located slightly to the north of Lagide reef just a short paddle away. Depending on the sandbanks and swell size/direction this is a really fun break to surf if you fancy a more chilled surf away from the crowds.

Surf Level
The beach breaks (Prainha and Gigi) are perfect for all levels. Lagide reef is more suited to intermediate level and above mostly due to the skills required to navigate the crowds at such a popular reef break, but the wave itself is very user friendly and a real great option on southerly winds.
